No doubt that Alan Wilder worked his magic with DM. He brought complexity and atmosphere to their music. On the other hand, those who say that DM are nothing without Alan, I disagree. Martin is a songwriting genius and Dave is an incredible singer and performer. Move on peeps. Alan left, and if you really love the man's music, support Recoil instead!

Alan Wilder is a human sound machine composer genius, what ever he put together it was gold! DM lost the leg to the golden horse that kept them running together in 80s 90s. The Band was never the same when he left. Oh well past is the past that's life!

Alan was the Soul of that band..they make music, some decent(like a song or two per album), but long are the Days when one could put the CD, tape or LP on and listen to an entire Album..being mesmerized by each song and thinking it couldnt get better...untill the next songs intro made the hair on back of your neck rise. That hair rising was Alan Wilders magic JuJu..he put his heart, soul, blood sweat and tears into that band and they were too busy shooting heroin, drinking or flipping out and missing chunks of tours to give a damn. Their soul left them and they havent been same sence. Their cutsie routine at rock and roll hall of fame wit out Alan was a gutpunch...it isnt the number of albums youve made since Alan left..its the number of GREAT ALBUMS YOU MADE TOGETHER..before he left YOU KNOBBS.those token albums after aint no Violator boys...

It took Alan Wilder leaving Depeche Mode for people to realize he was the heart and soul of Depeche Mode. He was the sound of Depeche Mode. Without Alan Wilder, there is no Depeche Mode.

Pandemic time anyone? ;) DM has made it into the Hall Of Fame, and Alan was of course, mentioned by Dave in his recognition speech

I think people give Alan to much credit. I’m sure he never got what he believed was his due but Depeche Mode has continued to make great music without him. Their first album without him Ultra, was fantastic
